A Tour of Excellence
Community leaders and government officials visit the Atlantic
Neuroscience Institute.

“Our motto is ‘The passion to lead,’ and our first priority is our patients.”

That’s the message Overlook President Alan Lieber delivered recently to a group of community leaders and government officials, who had been invited to tour the hospital’s Atlantic Neuroscience Institute, where 3,300 inpatients were treated in 2009. With its state-of-the-art services for the treatment of strokes, brain tumors, epilepsy, pain management, movement disorders, memory disorders, and more, the Institute has helped the hospital evolve into a regional medical center and has answered the state’s need for a top neurological facility.

Prior to the tour, which included up-close looks at cutting-edge technologies, Congressman Leonard Lance of New Jersey’s seventh district—who had been on the floor of the House of Representatives just hours earlier to partake in the ongoing healthcare debate—remarked, “Overlook is a wonderful hospital. It represents what’s good in the American healthcare system.”

State Senator Tom Kean spoke of the hospital’s overall level of high achievement, and said that Overlook could be held as a model for what needs to be done elsewhere in the state. “Thank you for being on the forefront of research and care,” he said. “Every single time, everything here is done with excellence.”
